At the Tesla Al Day conference, Elon Musk presented Optimus. A humanoid robot that will help Tesla in it’s production plants. A project heavily criticized by disappointed fans on Twitter

Nicknamed « Bumble C », the Optimus prototype was not very well received by Tesla fans. Upon greeting the crowd, the robot was directly criticized on Twitter as “ too slow ” and “ ugly. ” At this conference dedicated to artificial intelligence, the American company tried to seduce the spectators. A series of videos was presented, showing the robot’s usefulness: it delivers parcels, carries boxes, waters flowers. But the internet was still not impressed.

Bumble C : far from a revolution

As a reminder, the project was presented a year earlier in 2021, under the name of Tesla Bot. Some prototypes exhibited had many visible cables, harming the aesthetics of the robot. In the videos shown, the humanoid appears slow and not very dynamic. Far from the finesse of the Atlas robots, from Boston Dynamics. The only thing that sets Optimus apart is its artificial intelligence : the robot is powered by software similar to those used by Tesla’s electric cars. According to Internet users, the 20,000 dollar robot does not reveal the “ future of abundance ” promised by Elon Musk at this conference. Bumble C will be available for sale in 2027. By then, Bumble C should be able to talk to people.

What about Tesla’s electric cars ?

Elon Musk is modifying his Teslas. Every new model 3 and Y built, will only have cameras. For safety reasons, the ultrasonic sensors are being removed. Driving will be easier, but the capacity of the Autopilot mode will be reduced. These changes are temporary, the time to test the full-self-driving mode in the United States. The level of security will be even higher with its added cameras. Cars will be more efficient in detecting their environment. Tesla wants its vehicles to be the safest in the auto market.

In addition to the ecological factor, today many rental agencies buy Tesla cars for their safety. On the French Riviera, at Movo Car Rental you can rent a Tesla for your next trip.
