Tesla Model 3 : a new racing car ?

Tesla arrives on the tracks. For the first time, the American brand will participate in a new electric car competition : the STCC.

In recent years, the electric car championships have multiplied. The best-known competition, Formula E, will inaugurate the third generation of electric single-seaters in 2023.

What are the other existing electric car competitions? 

There is also the Extreme E, which arrived last year with ETCC (A pan-European championship for Saloon cars) , a championship between supertouring and rallycross.

In less than a month, 2023 ERA will begin: another single-seater discipline. Just like the STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship), a Scandinavian supertourism championship, which goes electric.

BMW i4 and Volkswagen ID.3 have already found teams. But now it’s the Tesla Model 3, which has found its own. The Brink Motorsport team will replace its Audi RS 3 LMS for Model 3 cars. Its manager, Tobias Brink, said he was “looking forward to this new car”: ” We are really looking forward to seeing the new cars, the philosophy is good ! ” he said. “ More power, all the torque immediately, rear-wheel drive, a little less grip, that’s a recipe I like.”

These vehicles will have to be adjusted to the technical regulations. The three models used by the team will have to have 550 horsepower engines.
