Concerning ecology, the new year announces new rules. There will be several changes in particular in the Low Emission Zones (Zones à faibles émissions or ZFE in France). Take a look at the new restrictions with Movo Car Rental

What are Low Emission Zones ? It is a perimeter where traffic restrictions are put in place to combat air pollution caused by vehicles. In practice, polluting vehicles have limited access to certain places in large cities. A system that functions with the Crit’air stickers. Numbered from 1 to 5, with colors. The 5 designates the most polluting vehicles.

Understanding the Crit’air sticker

All types of vehicles are classified amongst the 6 stickers. For those that work with petrol or diesel, they have a certain sticker according to the Euro standard. This number is normally indicated on the registration certificate, otherwise everything is filled in on this attached table.

The Crit’air sticker is mandatory. When there is a peak of pollution, the traffic will be differentiated with the low emission areas. The most polluting vehicles will have limited access to these areas.

Please note : if you travel in a low-emission area with a vehicle that is not authorised or without a Crit’air sticker, you may be fined €135 for trucks and buses or €68 for cars or other two-wheeled vehicles.
