Renault has developed a strategy to deal with Tesla’s price reduction on the electric Megane.
Although the American company has reduced the price of the Model 3 twice this year, Renault has no intention of lowering the price of the Megane. Tesla launched this offensive earlier in the year by significantly reducing the prices of the Model 3, which it then reduced again in April. As a result, the Model 3 Propulsion is now offered at €41,990, while the Megane starts at €42,000!
The company wants to protect the profitability of its electric car and closely monitors the residual value of vehicles already sold.
However, to boost Megane sales in France, Renault has implemented a new plan that offers leasing options and a loyalty bonus for those who trade in their Zoe for a Megane.
The Renault Group has decided to strengthen its commercial policy by adopting a more aggressive approach to leasing, which represents the majority of its sales. Thus, since May, a new pricing grid has been put in place, allowing for a reduction of about fifty euros in monthly rent. For example, for the Techno range, the rent is now €321 per month, after an initial down payment of €5,000, bonus deducted, compared to €371 previously.
A loyalty program was launched a few weeks ago for customers who exchange their Zoe for a Megane, allowing for an additional €20 reduction in monthly rent.
To increase its attractiveness, Renault also offers a home charging station with its installation, up to a limit of €1,900.
