Tesla closes the year with a historic number of deliveries. This will allow the American giant to get closer to the symbolic threshold of one million units sold over the whole year 2021.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the manufacturer has surpassed the forecasts, managing to deliver 308 600 vehicles on a market however marked by the crisis of semiconductors.  The duo Model 3 / Model Y represents 96% of deliveries, or 296 850 copies in total. The Model S and Model X accounted for 11,750 deliveries over the same period, as they are currently limited to the North American market. Production for the quarter at Tesla’s factories in Fremont, California, and Shanghai totaled 305,840 units and 930,422 for the year. China played a key role in accelerating its volume growth, both in terms of deliveries to customers there and as an export base to Europe and other markets.

With the announcement of last quarter’s results, it’s time for Tesla to take stock. For the year as a whole, the carmaker managed to deliver 936,172 vehicles, almost double the number in 2020 (+87%). Certainly, Tesla should continue to see substantial growth throughout 2022, as it prepares to open new factories in Germany and Texas that will increase its total production capacity amid growing consumer interest in electric vehicles.
