A 7 000 € ecological bonus ?

It’s official, the ecological bonus will be increased. The President of France announced it yesterday, t the beginning of the Paris Automotive Week.

In the coming weeks, the ecological bonus will reach 7 000 €. Currently at a maximum of 6 000 €, a decrease to 5 000 € was planned as of January 1, 2023. Emmanuel Macron announced to our colleagues in Les Echos that « electric cars are more expensive to buy » and that they « allow to make major savings in fuel ,» hence this new measure. 

Ecological bonus : the criteria  

This new amount will be granted when purchasing a new electric model. Not exceeding 47 000 €. Unfortunately for our Elon Musk fans, you won’t be able to benefit from the 7 000 € help by buying a Tesla. Another condition is that this measure was created for struggling households. For the others, the bonus will drop to 5 000 €. 

Electric car and campaign promises 

The President of France has acted on the greatest promises of his electoral campaign. As of July 2023, modest families will be able to rent electric vehicles for 100 € per month. This measure remains difficult to put in practice, some low-cost vehicles already exceed this price. In addition, the delivery of these cheaper cars was delayed to early 2024. 

Announced on September 21, electricity prices will increase by 15% from February 2023. To compensate, the President promises that the price at electric charging stations will remain fixed at today’s rates. « Starting in January 2023, we will also be extending the tariff shield to electric terminals, to avoid incidents like some of our neighbours. Today the prices remain reasonable, we will ensure that they remain so ».
