The Korean manufacturer has decided to stop selling its hybrid models in Norway. As of January 1st, only their electric cars can be purchased on the Norwegian market.

For the new year, Hyundai is entering a new phase of its electrification. Two years ago, the Korean brand had already decided to sell only plug-in and electric hybrid vehicles in Norway. The cause ? The Norwegian market is very electrified compared to other countries, so the sale of thermal cars was not very beneficial for Hyundai. As of January 1st 2023, you can say goodbye to the hybrids who are also getting the boot.

This announcement seems logical, in Norway, electric cars account for more than 80% of the country’s registrations. 90% of Hyundai’s sales in the country are also electric vehicles. The Tucson PHEV will therefore be withdrawn from sales, it was the last plug-in hybrid model available on the Norwegian market. The range will now consist of the Kona Electric, Ioniq5, Ioniq6 and Nexo hydrogen.

This decision will only be favourable for Hyundai. This year the brand reached the 8ᵉ place of sales this year, with almost 6% of the market. The Ioniq5 crossover has the most success, with 4000 copies sold. It is the 7ᵉ most sold vehicle in Norway for the year 2022.

If you also want to test an electric car, go to Movo Car Rental, an electric car rental agency. A wide range of vehicles is available to meet all your expectations.
