A small electric city car of the Italian brand DR could be the number one competitor of the Dacia Spring. Created at Chery in China, this car was launched in 2022.
DR Motor wins thanks to its Chinese collaborator, Chery. The Italian brand is provided with new models, whereas previously it only sold SUVs. Drastic change with the DR 1.0: a very small electric city car. It looks a lot like the Chery eQ1 nicknamed the little ant. Launched in 2016, it was a precursor to the current fashion of mini electric cars.
DR has made a few cosmetic changes deemed unnecessary: the grille glued to the front of the car. It keeps a door 3.20 meters long.
The DR 1.0 is a propulsion model, that is with a 45 kW engine and 61 horsepower, accompanied by a 31 kWh battery. The range is around 210 kilometers. Consumption of 15 kWh over 100 km, with a slow and low load of 6.6 kW in alternating current or 40 kW in direct current.
The small city car is available in Italy from €25,900 without assistance. It is therefore more expensive than its rival the Dacia Spring which reaches 23,000 € in Italy. This means a gap of €2,700, a decisive criterion for this type of small vehicle. The DR 1.0 without option is composed of: an electric parking brake, an Auto Hold function, a wireless phone charger, a 9.7-inch center screen and a backup camera. The small ant warranty is 8 years or 100,000 km.
