Porsche has made a major update to its Cayenne plug-in hybrid for 2023, with significant changes on the outside, inside and under the hood.

Although the overall design of the SUV has not been revolutionized, the front and rear parts have been completely redesigned. The optics are now less sharp, which required a new hood, and the shield ismore vertical and angular.

At the rear, the headband has also been modified, with the license plate moved from the tailgate to the shield on the classic version, while the Coupé retains its distinctive appearance.

The interior of the Cayenne has been largely modernized, with a new dashboard inspired by that of the Taycan.

The driver now has digital instrumentation with a 12.6-inch curved display, while a new 12.3-inch display sits in the center of the console, and an additional 10.9-inch display is dedicated to the passenger. The automatic transmission selector was moved to the dashboard, freeing up space for additional storage on the centre console.

Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid version of the Cayenne benefits from significant improvements. The six-cylinder block is combined with a new 130 kW electric motor, an increase of 30 kW compared to the previous version.

The combined power now reaches 470 hp, compared to 462 hp previously. The battery has also been enlarged, with a capacity of 25.9 kWh, against 17.9 kWh previously, which announces an electric range of 90 km. A new 11 kW on-board charger has also been added to facilitate charging.

In terms of suspension, various systems have been revised to improve driving comfort. The restyled Cayenne plug-in hybrid is already available to order, with a starting price of €105,712 for the classic version and €108,712 for the Coupe.

Porsche claims that this update is one of the most comprehensive in the history of the brand, and it aims to extend the career of this generation of Cayenne until the arrival of the next generation entirely electric scheduled for 2026, while the current generation will remain available in parallel thermal and hybrid versions.
