Porsche has announced that it will discontinue the Macan with a combustion engine in 2024. This decision is due to the imminent arrival of the electric Macan, which will be launched early in 2024.

The Macan with a combustion engine is Porsche’s best-selling model worldwide. Originally, the automaker planned to sell both versions, combustion and electric, side by side.

However, Porsche ultimately decided to discontinue the combustion version earlier than planned. The main reason for this decision is that the Macan with a combustion engine will no longer be eligible for cybersecurity approval as of July 2024.

As a precaution, Porsche has therefore decided to discontinue the Macan with a combustion engine in the spring of 2024. The company estimates that the cost of updating the Macan with a combustion engine to meet the new cybersecurity requirements would be too high.

This decision is a clear sign of Porsche’s commitment to electric mobility. The electric Macan will be the first model from the brand to be based on the PPE platform, which will also be used for the next Porsche Taycan.
