Renault marks another entry into the 100% electric market with a model that obviously plays the nostalgia card, taking up the main lines of the original design of the mechanical icon of the 70s and 80s. In terms of dimensions, the standard R5 EV could be about 4 meters long. A car from another era, with the dimensions and proportions of our time.
Its recharging hatch is located in a new place, on the front hood near the left pillar. The optics thus incorporate the latest lighting technology, while the push-button integrated into the doors is replaced by a fingerprint reader.
Battery capacity, range, engine… it’s still too early to say exactly what this new city car will be like, but Renault confirms that it will remain close to the ZOE:
- Engine features: from 110 to 135 hp.
- Price: maximum of 20.000€.
- Autonomy : 300km
- The capacity of the pack should be close to 52 kWh.
Expected in 2023, the Renault 5 Prototype embodies the electric future of the rhombus-shaped brand. The challenge that Renault is preparing to take up with -thanks to the new LFP battery technology- is not exceeding the price of 30.000€.
