Standing for “Identity”, “Idea”, “Individual”, “Intelligent” and “Iconic Design”, ID represents the future generation of electric vehicles that the German brand intends to launch, while “Buzz” is a contraction of the word “bus” and the characteristic hum of electric vehicles.
Based on the MEB XL platform, the concept is 4.942 m long, 1.976 m wide and 1.963 m high. Driven by two 150 kW electric motors integrated on each axle, the Volkswagen ID Buzz has all-wheel drive and claims a maximum power output of 275 kW (374 hp). Thus powered, the I.D. BUZZ reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph).
Claiming a range of up to 600 km, the ID Buzz concept is powered by a 111 kWh battery. In its communication, the manufacturer indicates however that the value could change according to the needs of the customer.
Expected in 2022, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz will have a 100% autonomous driving system by 2025. VW ID.Buzz, Volkswagen’s rebirth of the classic microbus into a modern electric vehicle, could start at under $50,000, according to a German report.
