électrique car changes in France February 1st

Different budget, increased tolls, there is new for motorists as of February 1, 2023.

First change, starting tomorrow the price of charging at home increases. The regulated electricity rate is up by 15%. Charging your electric car at home will therefore cost much more. The price will vary depending on the type of contract with EDF.

Public charging stations, prices also increase

As you can see, charging stations will also be subject to a price increase. For example, the network «prise de Nice», whose prices remained the lowest for four years, despite this increase, remains the most interesting. Charging at the stations remains free up to 22 kW. But only one hour will be offered instead of two hours. Afterwards, you will have to pay €2.50 for the second hour, €4 per hour for the third and fourth hour. Before going up to 6€ per hour from the fifth hour.

For fast charging stations, up to 50 kW, it will cost you €2.50 for 15 minutes, €10 for more than fifteen minutes. From 50 to 150 kW, it will be 5€ for fifteen minutes, then 15€ beyond that time.

Several networks inflate their prices: for Electra, it is now 54 cents per kW instead of 44. West Charge and Belib are also increasing their tariffs.

Watch out for toll increases

Tariffs are again being revised upwards. Because of inflation, this year it’s going up a lot. Results? Prices will go up by 5%. On most small trips, Vinci has decided to freeze fares, but for long journeys, it will be expensive.

But there is good news! On daily trips, the discount will be reinforced. This discount is applied for ten identical round trips in the same month. This is controlled by the e-toll badge. It goes from 30% to 40%.

Drivers of electric vehicles will also benefit from a 5% discount, which will save them from the price increase.

Help installing a charging station : change in the Advenir scale

Nicknamed Advenir, this program is a financial aid to set up charging infrastructures in roads, companies and condominiums. Starting tomorrow, the “Charging point open to all public on private parking” and “Charging point open to all public on private parking – intermediate target” premiums will have new premium ceilings: «The aid rate is 30%, with a ceiling of €1,000 for AC terminal and €2,700 DC terminal on private parking and up to €1,000 for intermediate target private parking.»
