Having caused a sensation with its SU7 electric sedan, Xiaomi has no intention of stopping there. An SUV is already planned for this year, and it promises to be just as powerful and affordable as its predecessor.
Xiaomi hasn’t done things by halves for its entry into the automotive market. They’ve developed their own platform, batteries, motors and even production tools. The result? A top-of-the-range electric car at a very competitive price.
A second model already on the way
The success of the SU7 has confirmed Xiaomi’s ambitions to become one of the world leaders in electric cars by the end of the decade. To achieve this, they intend to multiply the number of new model launches.
The next model will therefore be an SUV, competing with the Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 and BYD Song L. It will have similar technical characteristics to the SU7 sedan.
Focus on the Chinese market
For the time being, Xiaomi is concentrating on the Chinese market, which is fond of large vehicles. We’ll have to wait a few more years before seeing more affordable models in Europe.
