Tesla’s Swedish employees are threatening to go on strike from 27 October if the manufacturer does not sign a collective agreement on wages. This strike would affect 120 Tesla mechanics in seven workshops across Sweden.

In Sweden, collective agreements form the basis of labour market rules. Unionized employees benefit from social minimums, particularly in terms of salary. It is precisely on this point that Tesla employees complain to their employer.

Tesla employees in Sweden are demanding a pay raise, a better retirement and more comprehensive medical and social coverage. They feel that their working conditions are not up to those of other employees in the automotive sector in Sweden.

Tesla has yet to speak on this. The brand faces several fronts. In Germany, nearly 1,000 employees have decided to form a union to obtain better working conditions. Under pressure, Tesla increased the salaries of its employees in Germany, but this was not enough to ease tensions.

Tesla employees in Sweden are still hoping to reach an agreement with management. They state that they are ready to negotiate, but that they will not yield on their claims.

A comparison with the situation in Germany :

The situation of Tesla employees in Sweden is similar to that of Tesla employees in Germany. Both countries have a strong trade union culture and collective agreements form the basis of labour market rules.

A strike at Tesla in Sweden would have significant consequences for the manufacturer. Indeed, Sweden is an important market for Tesla and a strike could disrupt electric vehicle deliveries in the country.
