Mazda unveiled an electrified MX-5 concept car at the Tokyo Auto Show. This model, called Iconic SP, gives a glimpse of the next generation of the famous Japanese sports car.

The Iconic SP is a coupe, but it takes the characteristic silhouette of the MX-5, with a long hood and a collected stern. The design is minimalist, with flowing lines and soft curves.

The interior is also minimalist, with a sleek dashboard and an original gearbox with zippers.

Under the hood, the Iconic SP is equipped with an electric motor combined with a rotary range extender. This technology limits the size of the battery, which is important for a light sports car.

The power of the system is 370 hp, which should guarantee high level performance.

Mazda has not yet announced a release date for the next MX-5, but it is likely to be released in the coming years.
