Saudi Arabia continues to prove itself to the automotive world. The Chinese start-up Enovate has even announced to set up a factory there. It is the third electric car factory to have landed in the country in a few months.

Enovate is a manufacturer of high-tech electric cars. Created in 2015, because of the competition, it tries to compensate for its lack of success by expanding into the international market. Enovate therefore chose to set up a factory in Saudi Arabia.

An agreement with Sumou Holding has been put in place to create a joint venture. Both are investing €475 million to build a study office and a factory. They should be able to produce almost 100,000 electric vehicles a year. At the moment, no date has been provided for the start of the work.

A little more about Enovate ….

Created by Zhejiang Dianka Automobile, the brand’s first vehicle was a small city car. Released in November 2017 under the brand Dear CC, its production stopped after a few months.

In 2020, Enovate unveiled its first electric SUV, the ME-7 : 4.68 meters long, a 160 kW engine and a 54 or 72 kWh battery. Its autonomy is of 430 km. In 2021, the ME-5 is marketed : more compact it is 4.58 m long. Equipped with a range extender and an electric motor of 150 kW, with 4 cylinders 1.5, and the tank of 42 liters, the range can reach 1000 km.

But in 11 months of production, only 2,519 units have been sold. For Saudi Arabia, this project helps it to establish itself in the automotive world. Recently, they created their national brand Ceer.

For Enovate, the next step is a new sedan.

If the sale of these vehicles does not work for all brands, the rental of electric cars is booming. Cheaper, easier to test, it is a simpler way for potential customers to make their choice since electric cars are an investment. Several electric car rental agencies offer all kinds of models. This is the case of Movo Car Rental, from the Ami, to the Porsche Taycan, there is something for every taste and every budget.
