Stellantis recently presented its roadmap for the coming years, and Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat will have an electric future. Indeed, all three manufacturers will be offering only electric cars within the next few years. With new European standards on the horizon for greenhouse gas emissions, manufacturers have no choice but to electrify their catalogues. Some of them have made a drastic choice, but one that will no doubt be mandatory in the future: a straightforward switch to electric vehicles.

Within two years, Stellantis will give Lancia a new impetus by launching a new generation of Ypsilon.

It will be offered with electrified engines, but also with combustion engines. The latter should not remain in the catalogue for long, as Lancia will become a 100% electric brand from 2026. The following year, it will be the turn of Alfa Romeo and Fiat to go all-electric.

However, for Fiat and Alfa Romeo, there will be a few subtleties, particularly in terms of the different markets, as not all of them are as mature as Europe for a switch to all-electric. While Fiat will only sell electric cars in Europe, this will not be the case in other parts of the world. For example, the Italian brand will not stop selling its combustion models in Latin America, where it still achieves very good results, particularly in Brazil. For the moment, the Fiat 500e is the only 100% electric model from the Italian firm. A second model is planned for 2023, probably a production version derived from the Centoventi concept car. By 2027, Fiat will only offer electric cars on the Old Continent.

For Alfa Romeo, this will also be the case in 2027. But the roadmap is a little less clear at the moment. The Biscione company is trying to relaunch itself, notably with the Tonale, and the arrival of another, smaller SUV, which could be called ‘Brennero’. Still at Stellantis, other brands will go 100% electric, such as Chrysler in 2028 and DS, much earlier, in 2024.
