The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles will take place from 18 March to 2 April 2022. For this 31st edition, the start will take place in Nice, then the race will take place in the Moroccan desert, followed by the finish on the beach in Essaouira.
Two businesswomen, Christine Guérin and Florence Bucaro, will take part with a 100% electric car. They will be sponsored by a business school, IDRAC Business School.
These two work partners and friends, aged 47 and 57, share the same values and the same motivation for this race and their cause.
In the world of motor racing, this rally-raid occupies a special place as it is exclusively reserved for women. It is also important to note that this rally remains the only one to be certified by the ISO 14001 environmental standard (reduction of CO2 emissions, incineration of all waste). The duo will take part in the nine days of competition in a 100% ecological vehicle recharged with solar panels.
They recharge their Renault ZOE using an autonomous solar power plant deployed in the middle of the desert. These principles appeal to us,” explains Christine Guérin. The route is also atypical, with sand dunes and winding roads, knowing that we will know the official route just before the start (the rally-raid is only run off-road without GPS but with a map and compass) so that we can live out this old dream in the best possible conditions”.
For Christine and Florence, this challenge is a real escape and a source of motivation to realise that life is about sharing new experiences, no matter who you are as a woman. Being a committed woman is part of the character of our two Provençal participants who are looking to surpass themselves. They are as much committed to their family as they are to their company and their association: Cap Au Coeur.
