Even though Honda has just unveiled the new Civic eHEV hybrid, the Japanese automaker is detailing its electrification strategy for the years to come. As for many car brands, it will accelerate in order to meet the new anti-pollution standards by reducing CO2 emissions. Honda will launch new models, not hybrids, but 100% electric. The first of them will be the Honda e:Ny1, a rather compact “B-segment electric SUV”. For the moment. At the front, it features narrow LED headlights connected by a thin grille. Further down, the Honda logo is backlit. The car’s face is reminiscent of the latest Honda HR-V.

At the rear, the Honda e:Ny1 is currently equipped with a strong light signature including a band that covers the entire width of the SUV. Under this light line, a Honda lettering is installed on the body. The rear window is steeply sloped and almost gives the car an SUV coupe look. Honda doesn’t give any information about the engine of this e:Ny1, but assures that it will combine dynamism, technology and design to bring “a great answer to families looking for their first electric vehicle”. Duly noted.

In addition to the e:Ny1, Honda is also announcing the launch of a C-segment hybrid SUV and a new generation CR-V for 2023. This iteration of the family SUV will be offered “with full hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain options for the first time in Europe,” says the Japanese automaker. Honda’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality for all its products and operations “by 2050”.
