Geely creates a new sub-brand, Galaxy, for its new high-end plug-in hybrid and electric models.

With a multitude of existing brands (Geely, Livan, Lynk&Co, Zeekr, Radar, Farizon) and models that share similar names, it can be difficult to distinguish the role of each entity. Galaxy will position itself in the high-end segment, between Geometry and Zeekr, and will compete with BYD’s “marine” series.

Seven different models are planned in three years

Galaxy will offer high-end plug-in hybrid and electric models, promising seven vehicles, with the first being the L7 plug-in hybrid SUV. The design is modern, but the Galaxy L7 is heavily based on the Geely Boyue L.

The interior is richer than the base model, with a large screen for the passenger and a streamlined center console. The L7 SUV, as well as the L6, E6, and E7, will be released in 2024, while the L9 will arrive in 2025.

For advanced autonomous driving, it will be possible to use the Galaxy N-Operating System with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor and the satellite network of Geely’s space subsidiary, Geespace. The L7 will feature a plug-in hybrid DHT powertrain with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine producing 110 kW / 150 hp, for a total range of 1370 km and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The electric powertrain has not yet been detailed.

The nearly 5-meter-long E8 sedan will be the first electric vehicle from the Galaxy brand to be released. Inspired by the Light concept, it will feature a large screen strip with touch controls under the decorative strip. The standard model will feature conventional doors, while the integrated rear drone will not be offered.
