The Kia EV5 electric SUV will mark the beginning of Kia’s revival in China, where the Korean brand has been severely weakened in recent years.
This model, which will be marketed in China by the end of 2023, is also planned to conquer other markets, including Europe, from 2024.
The Kia EV5 is presented as a concept and will be positioned as a mini EV9, with massive and angular shapes. Kia’s attention to the driving experience is reflected in the passenger-side swivel seats and the small back-to-the-road seat that folds to the back of the trunk.
Technical details have not been released, but the model will be based on Hyundai-Kia’s E-GMP platform.
The EV5 launch will have priority over the EV9 launch in China, where Kia hopes to boost sales and profitability.
