Nio has launched a new generation of battery exchange stations in China, the third.
This version reduces the delay to 3 minutes, with 408 exchanges per day. Nio plans to install 1,000 in the country by the end of this year, adding to the existing 1,300 network.
These stations are reserved for the brand’s models, but can accommodate entry-level brands that Nio is about to launch.
Shen Fei, vice-president of Nio Power, said the company was ready to share its technology and network with other automakers.
Maxime Fontanier attended a battery swap last year at a Nio Power Swap Station in Norway. The station was located near Drammen and allowed 312 exchanges per day in less than 5 minutes per operation. Maxime timed a time of 4 minutes and 23 seconds to regain 100 kWh capacity during battery exchange.
The new station generation will be able to host the entry-level “Alps” and “Firefly” brands that Nio is about to launch. These models will be assembled in an old factory that the manufacturer bought from the manufacturer of SUV Leopard and destined for the middle class.
