Goodbye diesel and hello to electric

Oh how the times have changed! Electric car sales now exceed diesel sales in Europe.

The diesel is out, the electric is in. It’s still around, but it’s becoming increasingly rare.

In the first ten months of the year, new car registrations (all engine types included) increased by 16.7% in Europe. All countries have increased during this period, except Hungary. There have been good performances in Italy (+20.4%), Spain (+18.5%), France (+16.5%) and Germany (+13.5%).

But it’s in the field of electric that things are really happening. 100% electric cars are selling better than diesels. This is a real revolution!

Not so long ago, diesel cars held 50% of the market share in Europe. That was in 2015! Since the beginning of the year, diesel is down to just 13.9%. And gasoline vehicles could soon meet the same fate.

While sales of 100% electric cars may seem to fluctuate from month to month, the overall performance for 2023 is very strong. European consumers are showing that they are ready.

So, goodbye diesel, and welcome to electric!
