The BMW i7 is a luxury electric sedan that offers an unmatched driving experience compared to its competitors, Tesla and Mercedes, thanks to the added performance by the brand’s M sport department.
The xDrive60 version of the electric 7 Series has already made waves with its 544 horsepower sent to all four wheels, but the Bavarian firm wants more and presents the M70.
This version of the i7 is dressed to impress, with top bar mirrors, specific side skirts, and a bold black-copper two-tone paint, among hundreds of other color choices. But what matters most here is the immense power of this sedan: 660 horsepower thanks to a new 360 kW, 6-coil rear motor in addition to the 190 kW front block. With a total torque of 1,100 Nm, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive can reach 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, making it the fastest and most powerful electric car ever produced by BMW. The maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h.
However, this power does not compromise the range, as the BMW i7 retains its 101.7 kWh battery offering between 488 and 560 km of range depending on the equipment. This is not as high as the Tesla Model S Plaid, which offers 600 km, or the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, with a range of 562 km. However, the “Max Range” feature of the BMW i7, which reduces power, can improve range by 15% to 25%, reaching 650 to 700 km under optimal conditions.
The BMW i7 is also equipped with a 22 kW three-phase AC charger as standard, as well as a fast DC charger that can reach 195 kW. The double-axle air suspension ensures optimal driving comfort, while the M brakes and alloy wheels add a touch of sportiness.
The price of this BMW i7 M70 xDrive is commensurate with its performance: the entry price is €191,700, not including the numerous available options. This luxury limousine is therefore much more expensive than its competitors, the Mercedes (starting at €169,850) and the Tesla (now €128,990), even though it offers more advanced features and unparalleled luxury on board. The optional reclining rear seats, leather and cashmere upholstery, as well as the panoramic screen, transform the interior of this car into a true private cinema.
