Although the starting price of the electric 500 is high, Fiat offers a very interesting leasing offer.

Since the beginning of the year, French taxpayers with a reference fiscal income per share below €14,090 can benefit from an ecological bonus of €7,000.

Otherwise, the government aid is reduced to €5,000. However, Fiat has set up a promotional offer so that everyone can enjoy a €7,000 discount on the electric 500.

If you are only entitled to a €5,000 bonus, the Italian brand grants you a discount of €2,000. Thus, the starting price of the city car is €23,400 for all customers, which is still far from the price of a Dacia Spring, which starts at €20,800 without bonus!

However, most customers opt for a leasing formula, and Fiat has developed an aggressive offer that significantly reduces the gap with the Dacia.

With a small 23.8 kWh battery, the 500 is offered from €129 per month, while the Spring is advertised at €120 per month. These attractive prices, however, conceal conditions. In both cases, it is a 37-month lease, with a maximum of 30,000 km.

The big difference is in the first payment. That of the Spring is €7,500, while that of the 500 is €10,000. With the basic bonus granted to everyone, it goes down to €2,500 at Dacia and €5,000 at Fiat, which adds a €2,000 discount.

This represents a €3,000 reduction in the first payment for the Fiat. With the basic bonus, the difference is therefore €500 in the first payment, then the Fiat will be €9 more expensive each month.

The Spring therefore retains a financial advantage, with the additional asset of its five doors, which are more practical for daily use.

In comparison, the Fiat is significantly better equipped. Its more powerful engine, 70 kW compared to 33 kW, ensures better performance and a more pleasant driving experience. Its road capabilities are also more convincing. In addition, its equipment is more modern: automatic air conditioning, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as well as cruise control are standard on the Fiat, while they are only options on the Dacia.

That said, if price is your main concern – and this can be very important – the Spring remains an interesting option, especially if you can benefit from the maximum bonus. At Fiat, the first payment will be €3,000, regardless of your eligibility for the bonus.

With a €5,000 bonus, the choice can be difficult. However, for a relatively moderate extra cost, the Fiat 500 offers better performance and more complete equipment than the Dacia Spring.
